Scenic Bus Ride: Sheung Wan to Sai Wan Ho HONG KONG
I came across this article on SCMP a few weeks back and decided to check it out if it really lives up to it’s claim! We took the New World Bus #2 from Macao Ferry Pier by Shun Tak Center in Sheung Wan and rode it all the way to the terminus at Grand Promenade in Sai Wan Ho. From one waterfront bus terminus to the other, I have to say the ride indeed gave a glimpse of all the key neighborhoods along the northern part of Hong Kong Island.
The 75-minute ride took us through the concrete jungle of Central through Admiralty and the hustle and bustle of Causeway Bay and Taikoo Place all the way to the residential areas of Sai Wan Ho. If you are feeling lazy or want to be in a more air conditioned place while exploring parts of Hong Kong, this is the most convenient and cost-efficient way to do it! Also a good option for a rainy day.
Once at Grand Promenade, there’s a lovely waterfront park to walk around and admire the scenery. Sai Wan Ho seemed quite residential and we weren’t really hungry at the time so didn’t get to explore any of its local restaurants but I’m sure there are quite a few good options! Also, if you don’t want to take the bus back, the Grand Promenade is next to an MTR station.
Here’s a preview of what you can expect to see along the leisure bus ride from Sheung Wan to Sai Wan Ho.
