Best Things to Do in Tsing Yi HONG KONG
In addition to the hike on Tsing Yi Nature Trails, which offers excellent views of the Tsing Ma Bridge, there are a few other points of interest worth exploring on this lesser known island! This includes a gorgeous park with lush vegetation and flowers as well as a hidden gem for getting amazing Peking Duck without breaking the bank!
Tsing Yi Park
I have to hand it to the Parks & Recreation Department of the Hong Kong SAR for doing an amazing job providing and maintaining so many publicly accessible areas including hiking trails, parks, beaches for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. Each neighborhood has its own park to claim, and this is no different for Tsing Yi.
Tsing Yi Park is one of the largest parks I’ve been to in Hong Kong and the landscaping, no lie, is very impressive! Why?
The beautifully designed lake and manmade waterfall with gorgeous array of different types and colors of flowers complementing the green vegetation
The cute garden themed statues throughout the Park
Although I haven’t been myself during that time of the year, I heard it’s also a great and rare place to go in Hong Kong during the fall to see autumn leaves since not many places in Hong Kong, due to its weather, accommodate temperate forests.
Grab Authentic Northern Chinese Food - the Door Northern Chinese Dining
Not sure if it’s because the demographics of Tsing Yi is largely residents from Mainland China, but there is a great variety of mainland-focused Chinese cuisines, especially in Maritime Square (the mall). We went to The Door Northern Chinese Dining (前门饭庄) - yes, the English name is a bit od but the food is excellent!
Discovered this gem after our afternoon of hiking on Tsing Yi Nature Trails and visiting Tsing Yi Park. Although the line was super long when we tried to get a table, luckily the wait was no longer than half an hour. Usually, I hate to wait in line for food, especially when I’m hungry but this one was worth it!
Quite reasonably priced as well, the Peking Duck here was crispy and tender and of course comes with the sauce, green onions, cucumbers, and traditional wraps. The extensive menu also includes many other typical northern China dishes such as meat buns (baozi), stir fry, dumplings, and others. If you want a great meal without breaking the bank - this is the spot!
Hike on Tsing Yi Nature Trail for Views of the Tsing Ma Bridge
I know hiking is not the first thing that comes to mind when Tsing Yi is mentioned but the Tsing Yi Nature Trail is definitely worth checking out as it’s one of the only spots to provide a closeup view of the Tsing Ma Bridge! My other blog post provides a comprehensive guide on how to navigate and get to the trail.
