WanderingSnow is a storytelling-based lifestyle blog based in New York City run by Ellie Z. The name is derived from a combination of her interest in wandering discoveries through travel and food with her Chinese name Xue, which means snow.

Jardine’s Lookout - Hike to See Hong Kong and Kowloon Skylines

Jardine’s Lookout - Hike to See Hong Kong and Kowloon Skylines

One of the most unique hikes in Hong Kong due to its strategic location, allowing majestic panoramic views of both Hong Kong skyline and Kowloon Skyline, Jardine’s Lookout is one of my favorite hikes and hands down the most memorable ones due to its breathtaking views.

Hong Kong is in no shortage of hiking trails with beautiful views. However, there are only a few spots that cater to expansive views of both the Hong Kong Island side and the Kowloon side. In fact, I only know this one - Jardine’s Lookout.

Getting There

Located in Tai Hang Neighborhood towards the eastern side of Hong Kong island, the hike begins behind the Chinese International School. Since the trail begins semi-up hill, you either have to begin the hike from the closest MTR stop, Tin Hau Station. Or Take a bus directly or from Tin Hau, or of course, take a taxi up from Tin Hau Station.

By Bus

Many buses stop by the nearby Braemer Hill Bus Terminus, including Bus 25 and 49M among many others depending on your starting location.

Beginning of the Trail

While there are few entry points into the trail, the main one begins behind the Chinese International School. Follow the stairs and signs uphill. The entire trail from the Chinese International School is about 4km.

Things to Note

  • Wear shoes with traction! This is especially important for this particular trail because the last 10 minutes is unpaved and requires climbing and potentially use of hands to go over a few large rocks.

  • Be extra careful when you climb and descend down from Jardine’s Lookout back to the main trail. Again, it’s quite steep and difficult to maneuver on some points. Definitely use your hands if need be!
